Color Me Bright

Truth be told,

my life has more shades of color than I can see.

Brightness engulfs me and everything around me.

Saying that the dark shades don’t take over me would be a lie.

But when I see that light taking over the darkness,

I realize, I need the night to appreciate this light.

Everything it touches, it makes it shine;

it’s as alluring as gold and as simple as barley.

The slightest hint of those rays,

what’s the world without its sheen?

It’s a new hope; a new day; a new time to enjoy.

The palette is settled, the colors all come together

and it shines on me;

it has so many dimensions to it;

bright because these shades aren’t just black and white;

they ride together to make these rays worth every dime.
